*Currently, the department provides training in the educational program 6B02101 – "Design", in two training trajectories-"Fashion Design" and "Graphic Design". The training is carried out on the basis of license No. 0137401, issued by the Committee for Control in the field of Education and Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated 03.02.2010 with a validity period – without limitation with the assignment of an academic Bachelor of Arts degree.
The duration of training on the basis of secondary education is 5 years, on the basis of technical and professional education – 4 years. Bachelor's degree is provided in full-time education in the state and Russian languages.
The educational program is equipped with a modern material and technical base, there are sewing laboratories, graphic design laboratories, creative workshops, classrooms for practical classes in accordance with the training profile.
In 2024, the Department of Design, together with the Intermark International Design College (IIDC) at Jian Qiao University (Shanghai, China), signed a memorandum of cooperation, and there is also an agreement on a joint educational program. A joint curriculum has been signed, according to the State Educational Standard of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the EP "Design". Within the framework of cooperation with Intermark International Design College, 6 students are currently enrolled in the dual degree program in the trajectories "Fashion Design" and "Graphic Design". Every year, faculty of the department take advanced training courses at Shanghai JinQiao University for the purpose of academic and cultural exchange.
The department is actively implementing a system of dual education with such enterprises as Balalar adebieti and Start building, in which the theoretical part of the training takes place on the basis of the department, and the practical part takes place at the workplace, which contributes to practice—oriented training and active participation of business in personnel training.
Students actively participate in International creative and scientific exhibitions, competitions, festivals, are prize-winners and finalists of many prestigious competitions for young designers.
Academic staff of the department also actively participate in International creative and scientific exhibitions, competitions, festivals, conferences, are members of the Union of Artists of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Kazakhstan Union of Designers.
Graduates of the department are successful designers in Kazakhstan and abroad.
